Share A Story

For all you writers out there, we've thought up a fun idea for you! We're going to write the beginning paragraph of a story, then you add a paragraph to that. We'll pass the story onto another person and let it build and build until we reach the end. Once the story is done, we will read the finished product at our ice cream party and post it here on the blog for all of you to read.

We will be starting the story on Wednesday, August 4 and will be wrapping it up on Friday, August 27. All you have to do to participate is stop by the reference desk and pick up the story, then read the last sentence only, write a paragraph, and hand it back over to us.

Chess Tournament Reminder

This Saturday, July 31 will be a Chess Tournament. If you would like to participate, there's still time to sign up. Either come to the reference desk or simply leave a comment here on this post (or any chess related post) and we shall add you to the list. It will be held in the Randall Room on the first floor at 2 pm and will end around 5 pm.

Lastly, we would like to thank those who attended our action/adventure film showing. Pirates of the Caribbean was the winner and we enjoyed your company. Plus keep checking here for further updates and we will see you soon!

Movie Showing & Chess Tournament Update

There's only one more day to cast in your votes for the action/adventure film that will be shown on Saturday! If the poll doesn't count your vote, just leave a comment below and we'll add it to the results. The viewing will be held in the Board Room on the 3rd floor at 3 pm. There will be snacks and drinks provided.

Don't forget to sign up for the Chess Tournament at the Reference Desk on the second floor! We have changed locations to the Randall Room on the first floor, but the date and time is still the same. The tournament will be held on Saturday, July 31 at 2 pm.

Anime & Movie Showing

We would like to thank those who attended the second half of FLCL this afternoon. It was very entertaining and it was great talking to you guys and getting your opinions. We're currently working on planning some fun, interesting things for August, so keep a look out on the blog for more updates.

As for the voting on the action/adventure movie, there seems to be some sort of error where it's not counting the votes. So, if you want to vote for one of the movie choices listed above, just leave a comment on this post and we will count your vote!

Winners Announced & Pizza Party Success

We would like to thank everyone who attended the pizza party. We hope all the information we've given was helpful and we hope to see all those who attended (or wanted to attend) again!

The winners of the funny short story contest was announced today at the party: Xingyi Wen won first place for her story "The Average Angela" and Clarissa Padersen won second place for her story "A Drop into a Fall". Congratulations to both of you! Hopefully we will be having another writing contest for all of those who missed out the first time.

Just a little reminder, there's a vote above this post for the action/adventure film that will be shown on Saturday, July 24. So, keep voting and we will announce the winner on the day of the showing. It will be located in the Board Room on the 3rd floor and will start 3 pm. Also, don't forget to sign up for our chess tournament being held on Saturday, July 31 at 2 pm on the second floor near the adult DVD section. You can sign up for this event on any of the chess related post on the blog or at the reference desk on the second floor.

Anime Reminder

Just a reminder that will be showing the rest of FLCL on Saturday, July 17 in the Board Room on the 3rd floor. Snacks and drinks will be provided, so bring your friends and family along for the event.

Chess Tournament

July 31st from 2 pm-5 pm there will be a chess tournament to be held at the tables in the DVD area on the second floor. To sign up please come by the reference desk or comment to this posting.

Games

Since the checkers tournament turned out successful, we're wondering if there's any other types of games you would like to play (preferably something non-technological). We are contemplating on offering chess and/or backgammon lessons for beginners or those of you who a little rusty on the game. If you have any other suggestions, simply leave a comment here or in the chatbox to the right.

Pizza Party & Story Contest Winners Announcement

First off, if you haven't submitted your story for the short story contest, the deadline is tomorrow! All the information is in this post. So hurry and get them in~

Friday, July 16, we will be announcing the winners of the short story contest and hosting a pizza party. It will be held in the Board Room on the third floor at noon. If you're interested in attending, you can sign up by either leaving a comment to this post or RSVPing at the reference desk. There is a room limit of 14, so make sure you sign up now! The cut off date for sign ups is July 14! It's very important to sign up so we have enough food for everyone.
